Dear Mr. Cao
Hello!
This new year, I have read a lot of books about the new year, and the bookthat impresses me most is Spring Festival.
The author of Spring Festival is an Chengna. A long time ago, there was amonster named "Nian". It had two sharp horns and covered with plum red scales.Bigger than an elephant, fiercer than a tiger. It looks terrible. Every newyear's Eve, "Nian" will come to the village to eat people. One year "Nian" cameagain, and a young man said, "it's better to fight with it than to let it eat!"The young people nearby picked up the weapons on the ground and attacked Nianone after another. Unfortunately, they were not the opponents of Nian, so theywere all eaten by Nian.
Since then, "Nian" has become more fierce, so every new year's Eve peoplewill hide in caves. Another year, new year's Eve arrived, just as people werepacking up, there was an old man begging. The old man asked people for food, butpeople were very busy and had no time to pay attention to him. Suddenly, an oldwoman gave him some food and advised him to go up the mountain to hide. But hedid not hurry to eat the food his wife gave him. The old woman advised him torun for his life, but he said, "I have a way to get rid of Nian. She thought hewas talking crazy, so I had to leave him. In the middle of the night, Nian brokeinto the village. She found a big red paper on her door, lit a candle in theroom, and burned a torch in the yard. "Year" carefully came to the door, andsuddenly came the "crackling" sound in the courtyard. Then an old man in redcame out laughing. "Nian" was so scared that he ran out of the village. Theoriginal "year" most afraid of red, fire and explosion sound!
The next day, the people who took refuge were very surprised to see thatthe village was safe and sound! The old woman suddenly realized that thevillagers talked about the old man's promise. People flocked to their wives' andin laws' house. They saw red paper pasted in front of the door, and a pile ofunburned bamboo in the courtyard was still "popping" and several red candles inthe room were still flashing. In fact, the old man is to help people mirror out"Nian" immortals.
Since then, every new year's Eve, every family pastes couplets to set offfirecrackers, and every household has bright lights to keep the new year. Peoplecall this traditional festival the Spring Festival.
After reading this book, I realized that the old beggar turned out to be afairy. I was so moved that the "year" was formed in this way. Now we also callit "Spring Festival". I think this book is very popular. I have learned a lotfrom it. I really want more foreigners to know and understand the true meaningof the traditional Chinese festival "Spring Festival". thank you!

Dear Mr. Cao
Hello!
First of all, I wish you all the best in the new year. After such a longholiday, where are you going to play? We went out on a big cruise ship. Thecruise ship is like a small city with everything! I'm very excited! I brought abook "understanding Chinese traditional festivals" on my journey. This bookmakes me really understand the meaning of the Spring Festival. Let me also tellyou about it to Mr. Cao!
This book is full of rich cultural atmosphere. The text interprets the textwith pictures and notes each other. It vividly shows the general situation, origin, celebration activities and various folk customs of traditional Chinesefestivals such as the Spring Festival, the Lantern Festival and the Dragon BoatFestival. Let more Chinese people have an in-depth understanding of their owntraditional festivals, and also open a window to the folk customs for foreignfriends who want to understand the ancient Chinese culture.
It introduces why the Spring Festival is called "Chinese New Year"? Why doyou eat Zongzi on the Dragon Boat Festival? How is "qiqiqiaoqiao" going on?
In this book, the author uses pictures and stories to uncover the mysteryfor readers. This is not only a pleasant reading, but also a kind trip back tofolk customs.
I see that the Spring Festival, Tomb Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival,Mid Autumn Festival and other traditional festivals add endless fun to people'slives. But how much do you know about the stories behind these festivals? Don'tworry. Now open this book and follow the two lovely children in the book tostart this rare journey of looking back on traditional folk festivals. This bookintroduces what are the traditional Chinese festivals? What is the history? Andso on. There are pictures at the bottom of each paragraph. There will be a fewchildren talking about other customs below. They look vivid and interesting, butthey are good-looking. Let me tell you something about it. There are manyintroductions about the Spring Festival in the book, such as: the SpringFestival in the traditional sense refers to the twelfth lunar month On theeighth day of the eighth day of the lunar month or the third day of the twelfthlunar month, the sacrificial stoves lasted until the fifteenth day of the firstmonth, with new year's Eve and the first day of the first month as the climax. The first day of the first month is the first day of the year, also known aslunar new year. The word Spring Festival has different special meanings indifferent historical periods. It is said that in ancient times, there was amonster called Nian. It changed from eating insects to eating big living people. Therefore, people in the village were very afraid of it. Every winter, when foodwas scarce in the mountains, Nian would intrude into the village and hunt forpeople and livestock. People were always in panic. Later, people all know thatNian is most afraid of red, fire and noise, so the family will paste couplets onthe door, so Nian dare not come! Ha ha, isn't it very attractive to you!
This book is really recommended. I can't get tired of reading every page. It's so interesting. I know so much about customs and culture, and it's evenmore fascinating because there are illustrations and texts. You'll love it, MissCao!
OK, that's it!
Best wishes
Good health and family happiness

Dear Mr. Cao
Hello!
I'm Huang Qiwei. We haven't seen each other for a long time! First of all,I wish you a happy new year and all the best!
Recently, I read a book about the history of the Spring Festival, and Iwould like to recommend it to you. The book is called "festival customs". Thisbook is very interesting. Every story has a picture, and each story is easy tounderstand. This book tells us a lot about the customs of Chinese festivals, such as Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Mid Autumn Festival and so on. Butthere are many stories about the Spring Festival in this book. It happens to bethe winter holiday for the Spring Festival, so I'll tell you the story of theSpring Festival!
Spring Festival is one of the most important traditional festivals in ourcountry. There are many customs, such as picking up the God of wealth, steppingon the new year, setting off firecrackers and so on. Well, let's choose one totalk about! Let's set off firecrackers!
The starting point of setting off firecrackers is the same as that oflighting up lights. But the lights only have light, but no sound. Light can wardoff evil spirits, and sound can ward off evil spirits. It is said that thesetting off of firecrackers was related to Jiang Ziya. It is said that JiangZiya helped King Wu of Zhou exterminate King Zhou of Shang Dynasty and went toFengshen platform to confer gods. All the meritorious officials were sealed off,but his wife Ma came. When Jiang Ziya was fishing in the Weihe River to wait forKing Wen of Zhou, his wife thought he was poor and stamped off. Now that JiangZiya is fighting for the world's deities, she came to ask for the throne. JiangZiya said angrily: "you can be a broomstar. You can only go down to the world in30 nights. You can drill where it is dark.". Later, firecrackers were set offduring the Spring Festival to break the broomstar, leaving her nowhere tohide.
Speaking of setting off firecrackers, I think of my father and I set offfirecrackers together. It was the night of the new year's Eve. The red lanternsin the community had already been hung high on the trees. My father and Isecretly bought some firecrackers and set off firecrackers at the designatedplace. We took a very large board and padded it under it to avoid making a bighole in the floor. The board is about two meters long and one meter wide. We letthe people around us get out of the way, and then we started to set offfirecrackers. I hold a lighter in my left hand and a firecracker in my righthand. I slowly light the firecrackers. The sound of gunpowder makes my heartthumping. I'm so scared! As a result, the firecrackers exploded in a few secondsafter I threw them out. I jumped up happily and succeeded in setting offfirecrackers for the first time! "Crackle, crackle, crackle" firecrackers aremore and more loud, as if even the mountains are shaking up! What a fun nightthat day!
Mr. Cao, if you also have good books, please recommend them to me. I willwait for your good books to recommend! bye-bye!
Sincerely
Salute!

Mr. Cao
Hello!
Today, I would like to recommend a book for you. The name of this book is"primary school students' reading aid Library - folk culture". This book isabout the origin and customs of Chinese festivals. The reason why I like thisbook is that when it introduces the calendar of festivals, it always tells astory about the situation at that time. And each article is extremely vivid, from which we can not only learn the origin of many customs, but also understandsome unknown history and legend.
My favorite article is called "Chongyang climbing, drinking with dogwood.".This article is about the origin of the Double Ninth Festival. It is said thatthere was a pestilence devil in Zhuangnan of the Han Dynasty, which wasextremely ferocious, and would come out to harm people every September 9. Thereis a man named Huanjing in Zhuangnan county. Because Huanjing's parents died inthe hands of the pestilence devil, Huanjing wanted to kill the pestilence devilto avenge his parents. On this day, Huan Jing packed up and went to practicemagic arts with the famous immortal Fei Changfang, hoping to kill the evildevil. After a long journey, Huan Jing finally found the immortal Fei Changfang. However, things have not been smooth. After Huan Jing explained his intention,Fei Changfang refused Huan Jing's request. So Huan Jing knelt outside FeiChangfang for two days and two nights. At last, Fei Changfang was moved by HuanJing's sincerity and accepted him as an apprentice and taught him variousskills. On the ninth day of September the next year, Fei Changfang reckoned thatthe pestilence would enter the southern city again and harm people. He orderedHuan Jing to give him some dogwood leaves and chrysanthemum wine and send himback to zhuangnang city. When Huan Jing arrived in Zhuangnan, he took the peopleto the mountain, and let everyone drink chrysanthemum wine, and filled themountain with Cornus. After that, Huan Jing stood in front of the mountain witha knife. After a while, the pestilence came as expected. It wanted to go up themountain and eat people. Huan Jing stopped him, so they fought together. Thesmell of Cornus and dogwood is not stable for a few rounds. He raised a knifefrom the mountain. The plague devil was removed, and the people in Nanchengfinally lived a comfortable life. Since then, in order to commemorate September9, people have designated September 9 as the Double Ninth Festival. On this day, people will climb high with their families, fill the mountains with Cornus anddrink chrysanthemum wine to pray for themselves and their families. This is theorigin of the Double Ninth Festival on September 9.
I like this legend best, because I think Huanjing's persistence and braveryare worth learning.
